Auto Belay Update
We are currently working an alternative auto belay option for the climbing industry. The TRUBLUEâ„¢ product is a new generation auto belay. It uses a patented magnetic self-regulating braking system which is the result of over two years of research and development.
The unique braking system provides four benefits for operators:
- It automatically fully engages the brake in the event of failure of a component.
- It automatically adjusts the braking resistance to suit the weight of the climber.
- It is a magnetic non-contacting brake system which has no wearing or sacrificial parts.
- It does NOT use a one way clutch bearing.
In addition, benefits of the system includes:
- It is a webbing based system that will not damage walls like cable systems.
- The range will be longer other systems at 40+ feet in retractable height.
- The unit will be modular and can be moved.
- The cost to service the unit will be substantially less than other devices.
We are in discussions with TRUBLUE to provide this product to our clients. While we do not currently have a distributor agreement with TRUBLUE, we do feel that this product will be the best alternative for the climbing industry. The manufacturer estimates that the system will be available in the US market by summer. Once we have the ability to pre-sell this product, we will issue a notification.
