Visitor Center wall used to teach about climbing in Eldo
How do you best answer the question, "How do the climbers get up there?" You build a climbing wall and show how it's done. That's what the leadership of Eldorado Canyon State Park decided to do with their Visitors Center. Eldorado Canyon is a rock climbing destination for climbers from around the world. A huge number of the routes the climbers scale are easily seen by park visitors as they drive the park road and hike the trails. It's only natural that non-climbers will have questions about the process and safety precautions climbers use. To help with the teaching process, Eldorado Climbing Walls designed an interior wall that mimics the rock outside. It includes cracks of different sizes and orientations so the rangers can show how cams, stoppers, and other rock climbing protection are placed. The wall also includes a fixed anchor and a bolt with a hanger. The Eldorado Climbing Walls Team was particularly proud to be able to help their namesake educate folks about the sport we love.
